The Simon Wiesenthal Conference is postponed to autumn 2020
It is with great regret that we decided that – in face of the Covid-19-epidemy – it is no longer practical or ethical to continue with the conference as planned. We are, therefore, - not cancelling - but postponing our conference due to the recent developments. We tried to delay this decision as long as possible, since we were looking forward to our conference and its surrounding debates in a wonderful Viennese baroque palace with anticipation and interest.
But in the meantime, an increasing number of universities and academic institutions around the world have either advised faculty, staff, and students to restrict travel or banned it altogether. Yesterday, Tuesday, 10 March 2020, the situation has escalated: Italy is under quarantine, universities in Austria stopped teaching, the same applies to some other European countries.
All we can do, is to promise that we will do our utmost to postpone the conference to early October, trying to get all our sponsors on board again.
We will keep you informed.
