Veranstaltungen
Mit seinen wissenschaftlichen Veranstaltungen versucht das Wiener Wiesenthal Institut für Holocaust-Studien (VWI) die neuesten Ergebnisse im Bereich der Holocaust-, Genozid- und Rassismusforschung einem breiteren ebenso wie einem ausgewiesenen Fachpublikum regelmäßig näher zu bringen. Die unterschiedlichen Formate dieser über einen engen Wissenschaftsbegriff hinausweisenden Veranstaltungen, die von in einem kleinen Rahmen gehaltenen gehaltenen Vorträgen, den Simon Wiesenthal Lectures über für ein Fachpublikum interessante Workshops bis zu großen internationalen Tagungen, den Simon Wiesenthal Conferences reichen, spiegeln das breite Tätigkeitsfeld des Instituts wider.
Präsentationen von ausgewählten Neuerscheinungen zu den einschlägigen Themen des Instituts, Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum, die Filmreihe VWI Visuals und die Fachkolloquien der Fellows runden die Palette der Veranstaltungen des Instituts weiter ab.

Commented by Heidemarie Uhl Philipp Dinkelaker is a historian from Berlin, who recently published a monograph about the Sammellager Synagoge Levetzowstraße (a detention camp for Jews) in Nazi Berlin. He is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Research on Antisemitism at the Technical University of Berlin and was previously a Junior Fellow at the Centre for Holocaust Studies at the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich. Heidemarie Uhl is a senior researcher at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna and a lecturer at the University of Vienna and the University of Graz. Among other things, she is a member of the Austrian Delegation to the IHRA, chair of the Fachkommission of the Brandenburgische Gedenkstätten, and vice chairperson of the International Scientific Advisory Board of the Haus der Geschichte Österreich. Her current research analyses the representation of the Shoah in Austrian museums. Philipp Dinkelaker’s PhD project deals with the moral and ethical accusations and criminal proceedings against German-Jewish survivors of the Shoah who were perceived as Nazi collaborators in Cold War Germany. The project analyses how German-Jewish survivors and the two postwar German societies treated alleged traitors and embeds this analysis into the wider picture of German
