Lyubomyr Borakovskyy

BorakovskyyLyubomyr Borakovskyy is Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Associate Professor at the Department of Intercultural Communication and Translation Studies at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Ukraine. He completed his studies in German Philology at the University of Lviv and received his doctorate in 2014 at the University of Vienna as part of the doctoral programme “Austrian Galicia and Its Multicultural Heritage” with a dissertation titled “The Representation of Religious Relations in the Literature of Austrian Galicia.” He is the author of a monograph and more than forty scholarly articles in the fields of comparative literature, cultural studies, and translation studies.

 

In January 2026, Lyubomyr Borakovskyy is a visiting research fellow at the VWI within the framework of an OeAD research scholarship. His research project focuses on the analysis of literary representations of Jewish–Ukrainian relations in fictional texts from the first half of the twentieth century. In addition to the works of Soma Morgenstern and Joseph Roth, his research also addresses lesser-known authors such as Hermann Blumenthal, whose writings depict coexistence – both peaceful and conflict-laden – between Jews and Ukrainians.
