Das EU-Projekt European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI) https://www.ehri-project.eu/

EHRI ist ein multinationales Konsortium mit dem Ziel, eine nachhaltige, state-of-the-art Forschungsinfrastruktur für europäische Holocaust-Studien zu entwickeln und Repositorien sowie die Expertise von Archiven, Bibliotheken, Museen, Gedenkstätten und Forschungseinrichtungen, die Holocaust-bezogene Quellen enthalten, zu vernetzen. EHRI wird auf internationaler Ebene über mehrere Horizon 2020 Projekte umgesetzt, auf nationaler Ebene schließt mit EHRI-AT ein drittes durch das BMBWF finanziertes Projekt an. Ziel der Projekte ist es,

• EHRI in eine permanente europäische Forschungsinfrastruktur mit eigener Rechtspersönlichkeit und langfristigen Förderbedingungen zu verwandeln;
• Bestände verstreuter Holocaust-Sammlungen, Fachwissen und Expertisen zu integrieren und die Entwicklung neuer und verbesserter Dienste voranzutreiben;
• ein österreichisches Konsortium, EHRI-AT, verbindlich zu etablieren, das Archive, Museen, Gedächtnisinstitutionen und Forschungseinrichtungen aus dem Bereich der Holocaust-Studien vernetzt.

Ihre Aufgaben

• Verwaltung digital erzeugter, digitalisierter und analoger Materialien (Ordnung, Übernahme, Beschreibung, Speicherung, Aufbewahrung und Zugreifbarkeit)
• Betreuung von Langzeitarchivierung und digitalen Verarbeitungsumgebungen
• Unterstützung bei der Bearbeitung, Gestaltung und Organisation des Front- und Back-End von Repositorien
• Unterstützung laufender Digitalisierungsprojekte und konservatorischer Arbeiten
• Anwendung von professionellen Recherche- und Archivierungstechniken für digitale und analoge Materialien
• Verarbeitung von digitalen und physischen Materialien für die Langzeitlagerung
• Behebung von technischen Archivierungsproblemen und die Implementierung von kreativen Lösungen
• Individuelle Sammlungs- und Forschungsprojekte werden nach Bedarf zugewiesen
• Mitarbeit in den EHRI-Projekten

Ihr Profil:

• MA in einem relevanten Studienbereich oder gleichwertige Erfahrung
• Erfahrung in der Erstellung von Forschungs- und Projektberichten bzw. der Dokumentation von Forschungsergebnissen
• Kenntnisse in mindestens einem der folgenden Bereiche: Archivwesen, Digital Humanities sowie Forschungsinfrastrukturen
• ausgezeichnete analytische Fähigkeiten und Problemlösungskompetenzen
• Fähigkeit, komplexe qualitative und quantitative Informationen aus mehreren Quellen zu erfassen und zusammenzufassen
• ausgezeichnete Englisch- und Deutschkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift
• Affinität zur Mission von EHRI

Darüber hinaus erfüllt die/der erfolgreiche Kandidat:in mehrere der folgenden Anforderungen:

• Erfahrung im Datenmanagement (Datenbank, text- und sprachorientierte Technologien, Langzeitpräservierung)
• Erfahrung in der Arbeit in einem internationalen Kontext
• Kenntnis der österreichischen digitalen Forschungsinfrastrukturlandschaft (z.B. AUSSDA, CLARIAH-AT, EUROPEANA, KONDE, etc.)
• gutes Verständnis für den Kontext, in dem Archive tätig sind, insbesondere im Hinblick auf internationale Kooperation, digitale Transformation sowie deren soziale und kulturelle Auswirkungen

Konditionen

Die Bezahlung orientiert sich am Kollektivvertrag der Arbeitnehmer:innen der Universitäten vom 1.10.2009 in der geltenden Fassung, § 49, Gehaltsschema für das wissenschaftliche Personal, Gehaltsgruppe B1. Für diese Position ist ein kollektivvertragliches Mindestentgelt von brutto € 2.293,95 / Monat (30 Stunden/14-mal) vorgesehen. Das Entgelt erhöht sich bei Vorliegen einschlägiger Berufserfahrung.

The Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies (VWI) is looking for an archivist with digital expertise

Starting immediately, 30 hours/week, limited until 30 September 2024;

EHRI is a multinational consortium aiming to develop a sustainable, state-of-the-art research infrastructure for European Holocaust research, while working to integrate and link up the repositories and expertise of archives, libraries, museums, memorials, and research institutions holding Holocaust-related sources.
EHRI is implemented at the international level through several Horizon 2020 projects and at the national level through EHRI-AT, a third project funded by the BMBWF (The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research).

The aim of the projects is to

• transform EHRI into a permanent European research infrastructure with its own legal personality and long-term funding conditions;
• integrate holdings of dispersed Holocaust collections, knowledge and expertise, and to drive the development of new and improved services;
• establish a binding Austrian consortium, EHRI-AT, linking archives, museums, memory institutions and research institutions in the field of Holocaust studies.

Duties

• Management of digitally produced, digitised and analogue resources (ordering, acquisition, description, storage, preservation, and accessibility)
• Maintenance of long-term archiving and digital processing environments
• Supporting the processing, design and organisation of the front- and back-end of repositories
• Support ongoing digitisation projects and conservation work
• Application of professional research and archiving techniques for digital and analogue resources
• Processing digital and physical resources for long-term storage
• Troubleshooting technical archival problems and implementing creative solutions
• Individual collection and research projects will be assigned as needed
• Collaboration in the EHRI projects

Your Qualifications

• MA in a relevant field of study or equivalent experience
• Experience in writing research and project reports or documenting research findings
• Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Archival Studies, Digital Humanities as well as Research Infrastructures
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to gather and synthesis complex both qualitative and quantitative information from multiple sources
• Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English and German
• Affinity with the mission of EHRI

In addition, the successful candidate will meet several of the following requirements:

• Experience in data management (database, text and language oriented technologies, long-term preservation)
• Experience of working in an international context
• Knowledge of the Austrian digital research infrastructure landscape (e.g. AUSSDA, CLARIAH-AT, EUROPEANA, KONDE, etc.)
• Good understanding of the context in which archives operate, especially with regard to international cooperation, digital transformation and its social and cultural impact

Conditions of Employment

The payment is based on the collective tariff agreement for the employees of universities of 1 October 2009 in the current version, § 49, salary scheme for the scientific staff, salary group B1. The minimum salary for this position is € 2,293.95 b.t. per month (30 hours/14 times p.a.). The salary is increased in case of relevant professional experience.
