EHRI-2

Building on the successes of the EHRI-1 project, EHRI-2 focused on ‘hidden’ archives that are not part of larger infrastructures. The project established connections with institutions in Europe that have traditionally been underrepresented in international research, particularly Eastern and Southern Europe. EHRI-2 also promoted the digital transformation of Holocaust research by developing new digital methods and equipping the next generation of researchers and archivists with digitisation and digital transformation skills. Furthermore, the Institute was integrated into the EHRI Fellowship Programme, enabling it to host and supervise eight fellows academically over the course of the project and involve them in the Institute’s research activities. As part of EHRI-2, the VWI also organised the following workshops: ‘Transnational Meets Local: Making Holocaust Research Projects and Infrastructures Sustainable by Using Digital Archives, Electronic Repositories, and Internet Platforms on Local and Regional Levels’ (19–20 November 2018) ‘“It Happened Here!” Digital and Shared: Holocaust History in Public Space’ (1–2 April 2019) EHRI-2 was completed in October 2019.
