Organisation
The Vienna Wiesenthal Institute (VWI) is dedicated to researching, documenting and communicating all issues related to antisemitism, racism, nationalism and the Holocaust, including its prehistory and aftermath. The Institute is organised as a non-profit association. Eight supporting organisations form the General Assembly of the VWI: Documentation Centre of the Association of Jews Persecuted by the Nazi Regime (B.J.V.N.) Documentation Centre of Austrian Resistance (DÖW) Institute of Contemporary History at the University of Vienna (IfZG) International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Jewish Community of Vienna (IKG) Jewish Museum Vienna (JMW) OeAD ERINNERN:AT Centre for Jewish Cultural History at the University of Salzburg The General Assembly is the highest governing body of the VWI. The Executive Board, consisting of eight members appointed by the General Assembly, is responsible for making all operational decisions. In all matters concerning content, scholarship and research, the Executive Board receives recommendations from the International Academic Advisory Board, which is appointed by the General Assembly. The Board is expected to implement these recommendations to the best of its ability, or rejects them only for justified reasons. The VWI team carries out the Institute’s ongoing work under the direction of the Institute’s management: it operates the Archive, Library, and Museum, organises events and supports the Institute’s projects and fellowship programme.
