FAQs

What materials/collections can I find in the Archive?

In addition to its own institutional archive, the VWI Archive manages several collections.

These include the archive of the Association of Jews Persecuted by the Nazi Regime (Simon Wiesenthal Archive) from the former offices of Simon Wiesenthal in Linz and Vienna.

Since 2018, the Holocaust-related historical holdings of the archive of the Jewish Community of Vienna (IKG) have been housed at the VWI on loan and are accessible there.

The Archive continuously acquires the personal papers (including estates and partial estates) of individuals engaged with the Holocaust or its study, as well as smaller collections related to the Holocaust.

Users can access the following on site: the video interviews of the Austrian Heritage Archive (AHA), the Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies, the interview collection Final Account: Third Reich Testimonies, interviews from the USC Shoah Foundation and the Refugee Voices video archive. Further information on the individual holdings can be found here.
